Roadside Assistance
Roadside Assistance was founded in 1993 by José Orlando Colón Cruz, CAPM, SC, a pioneer in roadside assistance services in Puerto Rico. From its inception, the company began by offering structured roadside services, with the United States Auto Club (USAC) as its first client. At that time, USAC held the national roadside assistance contract with Ford Motor Company.
In 1998, the operation expanded its reach by beginning to offer Roadside Assistance services for Chevrolet Canada, providing roadside assistance to new Chevrolet vehicles in Puerto Rico. Locally, these services were also offered through the now-defunct TCC, strengthening operational expertise and coverage on the island.
In 2011, the domain www.asistenciaenlacarretera.com was acquired, marking the beginning of the service's digital transformation. Subsequently, the operation formally evolved into Asistencia en la Carretera (Roadside Assistance), consolidating itself as a corporate platform designed to coordinate and manage roadside assistance services island-wide.
Today, asistenciaenlacarretera.com functions as an operational tool that integrates and hosts a network of more than 80 service providers, including towing, automotive locksmiths and roadside assistance, allowing it to offer broad coverage, efficient response and centralized coordination for the benefit of the driver.
With over 30 years of uninterrupted experience, Roadside Assistance continues to operate under principles of legality, responsibility and commitment to the consumer, distinguishing itself as a purely Puerto Rican company, with a proven track record and a solid structure within the roadside assistance sector in Puerto Rico.
